Curriculum & Syllabus: Obstetric & Gynecological Ultrasound Training
A structured, three-phase pedagogical curriculum designed to advance sonographic competency from foundational physical principles to advanced fetal echocardiography, multiplanar neurosonography, and interventional procedures.
Phase 1: Foundational Physics, Safety & Early Embryology
Core acoustic parameters, system calibration, ALARA safety standards, and early pregnancy ultrasound from weeks 1 to 11.

Sonoembryology Course (Weeks 1 to 11)
Interactive exploration of early pregnancy ultrasound findings, developmental landmarks, and pitfalls.

Knobology and Image Optimization
Master power, gain, TGC, focal zones, depth, and zoom controls for high-resolution diagnostic imaging.

Safety and Bioeffects
Strict adherence to the ALARA principle and real-time monitoring of Thermal (TI) and Mechanical (MI) indices.
Phase 2: Advanced Obstetric Sonography & Fetal Medicine
Detailed first trimester screening, systematic 20-point fetal survey, targeted neurosonography, echocardiography, Doppler hemodynamics, and invasive procedures.

Detailed First-Trimester Scan (12w 0d to 13w 6d)
Early anatomical survey, nuchal translucency caliper calibration, nasal bone assessment, and aneuploidy risk calculation.

Second and Third Trimesters (≥16+0 weeks)
Systematic screening of fetal structural anatomy, biometry measurements, and placental assessment.

Advanced Fetal Neurosonography
High-resolution multiplanar evaluation of the fetal central nervous system, midline structures, and posterior fossa.

Advanced Fetal Echocardiography
Segmental cardiac examination: outflow tracts, 3-vessel trachea view (3VT), and hemodynamic color Doppler.

Doppler Velocimetry & Fetal Complications
Doppler surveillance in fetal growth restriction (FGR) and complicated multiple gestations (TTTS, sFGR, TRAP).

Diagnostic Procedures & Therapeutic Interventions
Proficiency in ultrasound-guided amniocentesis, CVS, therapeutic amniodrainage, and fetal shunt placement.
Phase 3: Gynecologic Ultrasound & Reproductive Endocrinology
Uterine myometrial and endometrial characterization (MUSA criteria), IOTA Simple Rules for adnexal masses, follicular tracking, and 3D coronal reconstruction.

Uterine Assessment & Adnexal Evaluation
Evaluation of uterine size, shape, myometrium (fibroids/adenomyosis), endometrium, and systematic adnexal scanning.

Reproductive Endocrinology (REI) Applications
Ultrasound for follicular monitoring, saline infusion sonographography, and 3D assessments of the uterine cavity.
